ElsonFoods is a food and cooking website built around one simple idea: most people do not have time, money, or patience for complicated meals. We write for home cooks who are tired, busy, or just starting out — and who need practical advice that actually works in a real kitchen.
What We Do
We publish guides, meal ideas, and kitchen strategies focused on three things:
- Affordable ingredients — how to shop smart, use what you have, and stop wasting food
- Simple cooking — techniques and recipes that do not require chef training or expensive equipment
- Realistic meal planning — approaches that survive actual life, not idealized weekends
Every article is tested in a real kitchen before publication. We do not recommend gadgets we have not used, techniques we have not tried, or ingredients we would not buy ourselves.
Who Writes Here
ElsonFoods is run by Jonah Rafferty, a former line cook who spent eight years working breakfast and dinner shifts in diners and small restaurants across Rhode Island. He started writing about home cooking after realizing that most food blogs were written by people who had never scraped burnt eggs off a griddle at 6am.
Jonah tests every recipe, tip, and strategy he writes about in his own kitchen — a small apartment in Providence with a stove that has three working burners and a smoke detector that goes off too easily. He believes the best cooking advice comes from mistakes, not perfection.

How We Create Content
Our editorial process is straightforward:
- Real testing — recipes and techniques are tested at least twice in a home kitchen before publication
- Honest assessment — if something does not work, we say so and explain why
- Regular updates — articles are reviewed and updated when prices change, techniques improve, or we find a better way
- No sponsored content — we do not accept payment to recommend products or brands
Advertising and Privacy
ElsonFoods is supported by advertising, including Google AdSense. We display ads to help cover the costs of running the site — hosting, testing ingredients, and the time spent developing and testing content.
We use cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use our site and to improve the experience. For details on what data we collect and how we use it, please see our Privacy Policy.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share email addresses with third parties. Our only communication channel with readers is email.
Contact Us
We read every email we receive. If you have a question about a recipe, a correction for an article, or just want to argue about whether hash browns should be crispy or soft (they should be crispy), send a message to:
Email: jonah@elsonfoods.com
We typically respond within 2-3 business days. We do not have a phone number or physical office — this is a small, independent website run by one person with occasional help.
Our Approach to Food and Health
We write about nutrition and healthy eating from a practical, non-medical perspective. We are not doctors, dietitians, or nutrition scientists. Our advice is based on personal experience, common sense, and widely available nutritional information.
If you have specific health conditions, allergies, or dietary restrictions, please consult a qualified healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet. We include this disclaimer because we believe in being honest about what we know and what we do not.
